Getting here
Getreidegasse is a pedestrian zone. You cannot drive up to the door. The easiest way to reach us is on foot or by bus.
On foot, you reach us from the Staatsbrücke bridge or the Makartsteg footbridge in a few minutes. Both bridges connect the New Town on the other side of the Salzach river with the Old Town. After the bridge, walk a short way through the Old Town and turn into Getreidegasse.
The bus stops Rathaus and Hanuschplatz are also only a few minutes' walk away. From there, continue on foot to our door.
Parking in the Old Town
If you come by car, the best option is a car park at the edge of the Old Town. The Altstadtgarage and the Mönchsberg car park are each about a five-minute walk from us.
From either car park, walk through the Old Town to Getreidegasse. Because of the pedestrian zone, there is no parking in front of the house. During the Salzburg Festival and in Advent, the Old Town is very busy. Allow a little more time for your arrival then.
What is nearby
Getreidegasse is one of the best-known streets in Salzburg. It is known for its tall, narrow houses, the passages to the inner courtyards and the wrought-iron signs above the entrances. A traditional inn sign of this kind also hangs above our entrance.
Mozart's birthplace is only a few steps away. The Festival Hall, the Cathedral and the funicular up to Hohensalzburg Fortress are all within easy walking distance. Stop by before or after your city walk, for lunch, for a beer or for dinner before a performance. After your meal, the banks of the Salzach river are only a few minutes away.
Eating in Salzburg's Old Town

We serve traditional Austrian inn food. The menu has classics such as Wiener Schnitzel made from veal, oven-fresh roast pork with bread dumplings, onion roast beef with spätzle and Salzburger Beuscherl. We cook with regional ingredients and prepare our dishes fresh every day. The inn has been here since 1864. In the dining room with its wooden ceiling and green tiled stove, you sit in a real Salzburg inn parlour.
There are also dishes without meat, for example homemade spinach dumplings with brown butter and mountain cheese. Children up to 12 years have their own dishes. To finish, try a homemade apple strudel or Kaiserschmarrn with plum compote.
If you eat vegan or have an allergy, please talk to our service staff. We tell you about allergens and adapt dishes for you where we can. You can pay in cash, by debit card, Visa or Mastercard.
A regional drink goes well with the food. We serve Stiegl beer from Salzburg on tap, also in a stone mug if you like. We also pour Austrian wines, for example from Lower Austria and southern Styria.
The inn seats 56 guests, and the beer garden has another 36 seats. For celebrations and groups, there is a separate room with 50 seats. Well-behaved dogs are welcome.
During the Salzburg Festival, in Advent and at weekends, the Old Town is very busy. Book a table in advance at these times. You can book online at any time, or by phone during opening hours.
